I’m kidding. We did, however, go WAY off the rails today- by accident. Want to know what we ate that is vetoed on the detox?
KALE CHIPS.
If you had told me 10 or even 2 years ago that eating kale chips would be cheating on anything, I would have had some choice words in response.
Cashews are a “no” and are in the cheezy flavor kale chips that we love so much. Whatever. I kept eating them. THEY’RE KALE CHIPS.
Aside from this major diversion from the plan, I ate much better today than I did yesterday. I started the day with a light breakfast:
My plan was to eat as much as possible today, as a way of saying “Self, I still love you, and I’m sorry for starving you yesterday.” Since I got up so late, breakfast was really lunch, so I was already behind on my grand caloric plan.
I got distracted with all sorts of computer related things, the usual reading and sending emails, writing and rewriting proposals, and of course wasting time with Facebook and Twitter. Before I knew it, it was evening.
And I was hungry. Not quite dinner-hungry, but ready for a snack.
Alright, it’s time to get serious about dinner. I’ve had a pork tenderloin from Fallon Hills Ranch in the fridge since Sunday. I’ve been thinking about it all week. As I mentioned on Day 9, I’m a big pork + fruit fan. When fruit isn’t an option, I’m suddenly at a loss.
But I love a good challenge! I had some skinny onions from the market that looked like spring onions, or small leeks. I decided to go with Asian flavors, and got some shitake mushrooms and ginger and swiss chard.
I started to write up the recipe as I was making it, but then started having doubts regarding it’s success. That was silly! It was really delicious.
I’m pretty sure I will be able to recreate this in my head and post the recipe. There might have to be a disclaimer involved, so as long as you’re okay with a make at your own risk recipe, it’s yours.
Got any good plans for the weekend? I’m pretty excited to have the whole weekend to learn how to use my new camera. Hopefully, I will be able to share some quality pictures soon. And by quality, I mean not taken with my phone.
