Two Nights Of Paleo Tapas in San Francisco!

Two Nights Of Paleo Tapas in San Francisco!

The past year and a half has been BUSY. Aside from the usual (catering and running this blog), I was writing a cookbook and planning a wedding. Paleo popups were filed under no-way-in-hell during that time, but I still missed doing them. Well, I’m thrilled to announce that: 1. I’m married! Meaning no more wedding planning. Once the Thank You cards are put in the mail, all we have to “worry” about is the honeymoon. (Are we there yet?) 2. The book is published and has been on shelves since August. Now I just need to get my tuchus to a few book signings and stop being such an introvert. 3. There’s now time for Paleo Popups! As soon as we returned from our mini-moon in New York City this October, I’ve been planning the next Paleo feast. In fact, it was on this lovely mini-moon that I was inspired to do them again. The meals we had at Nobu and Gramercy Tavern were among the very best I’ve had, and the level of accommodation they had for my gluten allergy was amazing. I’m talking full tasting menus, dishes created just for me, no eye rolling whatsoever. Incredible. Enjoying every dish that was put in front of me reminded me how much of a need there was for this type of dining in San Francisco. “There’s not enough of this in SF!” I said. And even as the words were coming out of my mouth I realized that I was partially responsible for that. I mean, I’m one of the few people in the Bay Area who offers gluten-free and paleo catering. And although I will not be opening up a restaurant anytime soon (read: ever), there’s no reason I can’t offer the occasional Paleo dining excursions for my gluten-free and Paleo communities. First up: Paleo Tapas! Two nights: January 9th and 10th at Coffee Bar in San Francisco. For more information and early bird pricing, sign up for the Paleo popups newsletter. As a subscriber, you’ll be among the first to know about these events, and will have first dibs on tickets at early bird prices! Tickets for this event are currently open to subscribers only, and will be made public on December 10th.  menu is subject to change, but is guaranteed to be delicious. PALEO EXPRESS : The next paleo popup is on!

PALEO EXPRESS : The next paleo popup is on!

I don’t know about you, but I REALLY miss my favorite Asian dishes since swearing off gluten. Even at restaurants that offer a gluten-free menu, I’m still not thrilled with the oils they use, and have spent hours in the kitchen perfecting my favorites. You know how I feel about living without the foods I love! Not happening. I’ve been thinking about hosting an Asian themed popup for a while now, and am very excited to announce that it’s happening: June 22nd at Firehouse 8. The Menu: hot and sour soup shrimp pad Thai twice cooked pork belly Vietnamese grilled hangar steak | siracha mayo | sauteed greens cold-brew Vietnamese style iced coffee | toasted coconut ice cream $60  Make your reservations here.   All of the links on zenbellycatering.com are for information purposes, however some are affiliate links to books, products or services. Gluten-Free & Paleo Pop-Ups

Posted by on Jul 27, 2012 in Dinner, PALEO POP-UPS! | 2 comments

Exciting News!  Every Saturday in August, Food Lab will be hosting  Zenbelly for some pretty incredible popup dinners.  For anyone who hasn’t heard of this trend, popups are essentially temporary restaurants that feature chefs who don’t have their own restaurant, but have something exciting to offer.  In this case, I have created a 100% gluten-free menu that is predominantly paleo.  The ingredients are all sourced locally; grassfed meats from Fallon Hills Ranch in West Marin, and produce from Miramonte Farms in San Juan Batista.  The intention of these dinners is to feature the best of what’s in season, farm to table style, while at the same time  offering the gluten-free and paleo communities an opportunity to order anything on the menu.  For the gluten-free but not paleo folk, there will be seriously delicious breads from Bread Srsly, who: “makes gluten-free breads for the sensitive foodie. We bake by hand in small batches, and incorporate locally grown organic produce from farmers we trust. And because riding bikes is (almost) as thrilling as baking, we deliver the breads by bicycle for free.” I tend to stick to a mostly grain-free diet, but when Sadie from Bread Srsly offers me some toast, I happily accept. It’s really, really good. BUY TICKETS HERE!  Here is a sneak peak of the menu: ONE fresh nectarines | arugula | crispy pancetta | plum vinaigrette early girl tomatoes | fresh herbs | reduced balsamic | unfiltered CA olive oil grown-up greens | feta cheese | strawberries | toasted almonds TWO Moroccan spiced bone-in Fallon Hills pork chop | Stone Fruit Slaw | collards Grilled Fallon Hills NY Strip Steak | Chimichurri | tallow fries Wild salmon | coconut green curry | cauliflower rice PEI mussels | white wine, garlic & grassfed butter | tallow fries | Bread Srsly sourdough Moroccan Chickpea & roasted vegetable stew | cauliflower rice | mint yogurt [v] THREE Desserts from The Goods – GlutenFree Treats: almond tart with peaches & blueberries (grain-free) 6 layer chocolate raspberry cake and from Zenbelly: raw cacao truffles (grain-free) 3 courses | $32 additional sides | $7. tallow fries ~ homemade ketchup sweet potato fries ~ chive aioli collard greens with ham hocks Bread Srsly corn bread ~ grassfed butter Food is prepared in a kitchen that is not gluten-free. We take all possible precautions to avoid cross contamination. Please tell your server if you have any other food allergies.  BUY TICKETS HERE!  All of the links on zenbellycatering.com are for information purposes, however some are affiliate links to books, products or services.
